Simple care for your leather watch strap

Everyday habits to help protect a leather strap from moisture and unnecessary wear.

A leather strap is a natural material that changes with wear. A few small habits help keep it comfortable and looking its best.

Keep moisture in mind

Moisture and perspiration can discolour or deteriorate leather. If the strap becomes damp, gently blot it with a soft, dry cloth and let it air in a ventilated place. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight.

Give it time between wears

When you take the watch off, leave the strap open rather than putting it straight into a closed container while damp. Check the strap occasionally, particularly around the buckle holes and attachment points. If you notice tearing or a loose fitting, arrange a replacement or ask for advice before wearing it again.

Know what belongs to the strap

Water-resistance information describes the watch, and should not be treated as a promise that leather will tolerate repeated soaking. Check the care guidance supplied with your particular watch.
